Gerald A. Ruebenstahl of Warwick, NY passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old.
Born on July 24, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Albert and Josephine (nee Batzill) Ruebenstahl.
Gerald was an architect and Construction Project Manager for several companies over the years, overseeing many projects from the ground up to completion.
Also active in the Warwick community, Gerald served 15 years on the Town of Warwick Architectural Review Board and was currently on the town’s Ethics Committee. As an active parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church, Jerry served as head of the building committee for the church and the school additions. Over the 58 years he was a parishioner, Jerry served in many ways, and was a founding member of the Men’s Fellowship. Jerry loved being outdoors: he was an avid hiker, paddler and gardener. He paddled the entire Erie Canal and Lake Champlain Canal, as well as many other waterways. He also helped to establish the kayak trail on the Waywayanda Creek from Wickham Woodlands to the Village of Warwick. He and Marie hiked throughout the United States, including ninety miles of the Long Path.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Marie (nee Held); son, Kevin Ruebenstahl and his wife Amelia Altieri; daughter, Teresa Polsky; son, Eric Ruebenstahl and his wife Susan; six grandchildren: Kateri, Alexander, Andrew, and Dylan; Gretta and Zachary; brothers-in-law: George Held, Edward Held and his wife Barbara, and Richard Held; numerous nieces and nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Albert Ruebenstahl and son-in-law, Lawrence Polsky.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. Stephen’s RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.
