86, of Warwick, entered into rest on December 30, 2007 surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Feringa Horton, she was born on December 14, 1921 in New Jersey.
Mary was retired from the Grand Union. She was a 4-H leader for 40+ years. She was a member of St. Stephens RC Church.
“She loved to crochet, bake, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family and many friends.”
She is survived by her brother, Yelta Feringa, and her five children: Eelke, and his wife Sue, James and his wife Marion, Carolyn DeMarmels and her husband Mike, Mary Garrison and her husband Ted, and Judy Doty and her husband Bill; her grandchildren: Shelly DeHaan, Michael DeMarmels, Dana Kang, Pam Glorie, Michelle Glorie, Neil Glorie, Kristin Nguyen, Kerri Garrison, and Theodore Garrison, III; and great-grandchildren: Connor, Bridget, Kieran, Ryan, Tyler, Clayton, Lucas, Benjamin, Samantha and Serena.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Eelke Glorie, her brother, Gilbert Feringa, and her sisters: Ada Parks, Aline Conklin, Betty Maxwell and Joan Sisco.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Elant at Goshen for their compassion and loving care given to their mom during her stay with them.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 4th, from 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral mass will be at 10am on Saturday at St. Stephen’s RC Church, Warwick. Private cremation.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes Association. At the request of the family, they would like to suggest that you take the time to visit loved ones in a nursing home or assisted living.
