Richard P. Lind (Richie) of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on December 14, 2022, at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY, after a long battle with cancer. He was just days shy of his 59th birthday.
Born in Brooklyn on December 18, 1963, he was the youngest of five children born to the late Richard A. Lind and Lois (Kane) Lind. Richard was an Iron Worker with NYC Local 40 for many, many years. Rich was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Karen Flaccavento of Brooklyn, NY and her children, Peter, Jenna, and Justin; his brother and sisters: Ken and Lori Lind of Surprise, AZ; Debbie Stenmoe, of Red Hook, NY; Donna and Tom King of Warwick, NY, and Patty and Joey Scibelli of Red Hook, NY. He loved his nieces and nephews as though they were his own: Michael, Lisa, Alexa, KatieAnn, Daniel, Matthew, Patrick, Taylor, Lauren, and Nicole. He was also a proud Great-Uncle to Paige, Ava, Sienna, Kinsley, Nolan, Eva, Maverick, Isaiah, Aubree, Maddox, and Kennedy. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Michelle (Toner) Lind.
Richie had an affinity for the NY Jets, NASCAR, playing “Hearts” with his brother and sisters, cornhole with his friends and neighbors, and Elvis Presley. You could often hear him singing “Love Me Tender.” Above all, Richie coveted time spent with his family. Toward the end of his illness, Richie said he knew it was time to ‘come home’—home was wherever his family was. Richie was a huge part of our family and he will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a special debt of gratitude to Richie’s friends in NY and NJ who were always there for him – whether rides to and from Mt. Sinai for treatment, playing a game of cards to keep him company or just checking-in on him. Thank You!
