Abbie G. Sweisberger, of Warwick, NY, passed away on January 11, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 87 years old.
Born on July 2, 1926 in Hoboken, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Alice (Wagner) Parascandolo.
She was married to her late husband, Christian K. Sweisberger, Sr. (2012).
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Meade and her husband Michael of Warwick; her son, Christian Sweisberger, Jr. and his wife Sabrina of Hawthorne, NJ; her grandchildren: Connor, Matthew, and Cameron Meade and Kayla and Emily Sweisberger. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa “Tresa” Priore and a brother, Louis Parascandola.
Abbie was the oldest living grandchild on the Parascandolo side. She was proud of her full name being Abbie Grace Pauline Parascandolo Sweisberger. Her favorite saying, “Patience is a virtue, God forgot to give it to me.”
We were blessed with an extraordinary mother and grandmother. She loved her family and friends deeply, her five grandchildren, and most of all her beloved husband, Chris. Abbie loved to entertain folks at pool parties, cousin’s reunions and family gatherings.
Abbie has lived in New Jersey, the state of Florida and recently enjoyed her independence in Warwick, NY in her own apartment. She was proud of everything she accomplished late in life, even with all she had recently endured. She adored her new friends at Liberty Green and at Christ Church; they were considered extended family to her. She was an avid reader, loved music and dancing. She is finally whole again, standing alongside our father, reunited with loved ones from long ago and recent passing. Oh, and Chris is telling corny jokes again while Abbie chuckles and rolls her eyes!
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 19th, at Christ Episcopal Church, 50 South Street, Warwick.
