Anthony J. Buscemi

of Warwick (formerly of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn), passed away on May 30, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital, Warwick.  He was 94 years old.

 

Born on February 18, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Vincenza Buscemi.

 

He was the husband of Lillian (Verri) for 64 years.

 

A Navy veteran, Mr. Buscemi  was a Transportation Director for over 25 years with Parsons Brickerhoff, Inc., New York.  He was an avid baseball enthusiast and a former minor league baseball player.  He attended St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick.

 

A family statement read “Anthony enjoyed life and his family and had incredible strength and was an inspiration to all.”

 

He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Warwick; a daughter, Jane Gyulavary of Warwick; a granddaughter, Genevieve Gyulavary, of Warwick.

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 2nd, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
