Harry C. Sayre, Jr., MD, son of Harry Sayre, Sr. and Alice Skehan Sayre, and a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed through this life on November 26, 2010 and is serving in the next life. He died peacefully at home in the company of his family. He was 89 years old.
“Doc” was born in Warwick on June 5, 1921. After serving with the US Navy at the end of World War II, he practiced medicine in Warwick for his entire career as a beloved general and family practitioner. He was a member of the Warwick Reformed Church.
He shared sixty-six wonderful years of marriage with Virginia (“Pete”) Lawrence Sayre. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children and their spouses: Harry C. Sayre III, his wife Linda of Warwick, James Sayre, his wife Kathleen of Farmington, CT., and Virginia (Gia) Rowland, her husband Jay of Warwick, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doc took great pleasure in time spent with family, including numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made for the hungry children in the Town of Warwick through the Backpack Snack Attack at the Warwick Reformed Church.
