of Warwick, passed away on January 19, 2010 at home. He was 65 years old.
Born on July 22, 1944 in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of John Patrick McKay and Lila Verduin McKay.
He was married to Stephanie (Arfi) McKay.
Mr. McKay was a Production Manager with Lysol Products in New Jersey and was more recently a Courier for Orange County Office of the Aging.
A family statement reads: “Wayne, you taught us so much about life and how to live. You showed us how important it is to see the world, but to never lose sight of the beauty in our own backyard. You inspired us to stay curious, get the job done right and never stop learning. Your life expressed a deep and lasting joy that came from being useful and making a difference in our lives and the lives of others. In sadness, we remember your special brand of humor and booming laugh. In darkness, we think of the light captured in your photographs-the sun streaming through trees at the edge of a field in morning, glowing through orange butterfly wings, highlighting purple coneflowers in your garden. When we reel from a life cut short, we think of your hands on the throttle of a steam engine train as you lived your lifelong dream. It was a privilege to share your life, to have you as a father, husband, and grandfather. We miss you. We love you. You are in our hearts now and forever.”
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, of Warwick; two sons: Andrew McKay and his wife Danielle of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and James Devlin, Jr. and his wife Amor of California; two daughters: Jennifer Kerin and her husband Todd of Wyckoff, NJ and Lisa Bonkoski and her husband John of Sloatsburg, NY; seven grandchildren: Casey, CJ, Will, Ryan, Kevin, Thomas and Eric; and several special nieces.
Memorial visitation will be on Friday, January 22, 2010, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 pm.
