James Hayes, of Warwick, passed away on February 14, 2014 at St. Anthony Community Hospital, Warwick. He was 81 years old.
Born on January 26, 1933 in Ireland, he was the son of the late Patrick and Bridget (Walsh) Hayes.
He was married to Mary E. (Kelly) Hayes.
James came to the United States in 1958 and worked as a Carpenter with the Carpenters Union, Local 608, in New York City. He was a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was a parishioner of St. Stephens RC Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Hayes of Warwick; four sons: Kevin Hayes and his wife Geraldine of Warwick, Brendan Hayes and his wife Silvia of Greenwood Lake, James Hayes, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Astoria, Queens, and John Hayes and his wife Tara of Floral Park, Long Island, NY. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Patricia McCann and Joan Tiernan, both in Ireland.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 18th,from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in St. Stephens Cemetery.
