Robert W. Horton, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2014 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 82 years old.
Born on March 22, 1932 in Warwick, he was the son of the late Ray and Florence M. (McCombs) Horton.
He was married to Ilse (Kientzler) Horton.
An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of VFW Post #4662 in Warwick, and was a past commander. He was a former member of Excelsior Hose Company, Warwick. He formerly worked for Grand Union, Warwick. An avid fisherman, Bob enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada.
A family statement reads: “He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, known as “Pop-Pop”. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank all the staff at Schervier Pavilion, especially Dr. C. Attardo, the nurses and aides of Maple Hall.”
He is survived by his wife, Ilse Horton of Warwick; two sons, Kenneth Horton of Warwick and Steven Horton and his wife Terri of Huguenot; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a brother, Richard Horton and his wife Connie of SC; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert R. Horton, a brother, Harleay Horton and a sister, Doris DeGeorgio.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10th from 7:00-9:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue Warwick. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery
