
Christopher J. O'Mara, of Warwick, a retired insurance executive, loving husband and father, and lifelong Yankee fan, died on April 25, 2016 at St. Anthony Community Hospital after a short illness. He was 65.
A native of Staten Island, O'Mara moved to Warwick in 1992 with his wife, Donna; son, Jeremy and daughter, Claire, who survive him.
O'Mara was a Vice President of Guy Carpenter in New York City. He also had worked for ICA Insurance in Mahwah, N.J., retiring in 2011.
A cum laude graduate of St. John's University, O'Mara also was a Navy veteran, who served in Turkey. At St. John's, he met his wife, the former Donna J. Hoppe. The couple was married in 1978.
He excelled at gardening, enjoyed playing golf and took his family on memorable vacations. O'Mara was an avid reader of history and fiction.
His parents, Thomas and Margaret O'Mara pre-deceased him, as did his sisters, Sheila O'Mara Olert and Catherine O’Mara, and a brother, Thomas O'Mara.
In addition to his wife, O'Mara is survived by his son Jeremy Christopher O’Mara and his fiancée Allison Fondy of Warwick, a daughter Claire O’Mara of Harriman, N.Y., and brother Joseph and his son Liam of East Hampton, N.Y., and several cousins.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 28th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & VanderPlaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Stephen's
R. C. Church, Warwick. Interment will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
