Mildred A. Murphy died September 21, 2007 at home. She was a resident of Warwick for 28 years. She was 82 years old.
The daughter of the late Ellen Kelly and George Stiers, she was born on November 15, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York .
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick.
A family statement reads: “She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who devoted her life to her family.”
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James T. Murphy; their two daughters: Florence Wood and her husband Robert of Warwick, and Patricia Plunkett and her husband Glen of Sugar Loaf; their son, Robert Murphy of Warwick. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Murphy. Also survived by seven grandchildren: Robert, Douglas and Brian Wood, Jennifer Caldwell, Nicole, Matthew and Krista Marie Plunkett; six great-grandchildren: Melissa Hooper, Devin, Logan, Allison, Kailyn and Tyler Wood; a brother, Kenneth Stiers and his wife Dolores of SC; two sister-in-laws: Anna Timmons of Staten Island and Jane Gar Bois of Washington Township. Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Mc Vey and George Stiers, and one sister, Florence Mc Vey.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 24th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Tuesday at St. Stephens RC Church. Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery.
