Philip S. Demarest

Philip S. Demarest, a lifelong resident of Warwick, NY,  passed away at home peacefully in his sleep on March 26, 2016.  He was 79 years old.

Born on July 16 1936, he was the son of the late Isadore C. and Geraldine (nee Higby) Demarest.

Philip was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary (McCormick) Demarest for 57 years.

Mr. Demarest was the Vice President and Secretary for the Warwick Telephone Company for 34 years, served on numerous finance committees with the New York Telephone Association, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.  He was member of the Warwick United Methodist Church and was the former Choir Director.  Philip was the former President of the Warwick Lions Club and the Warwick Jaycee's and was former board member of the Warwick Literacy Board.  He was also a volunteer for the Warwick Meals on Wheels.

A family statement reads “Phil loved his family and his cats, was an avid golfer, and a fan of the NY Giants and Kansas City Royals.  He will be dearly missed.” 

He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Mc Cormick) Demarest at home, daughter Laurie A. Johnson and her husband Jim of Pine Bush, NY, daughter Diane E. Duryea and her husband Jonathan of Copake, NY, daughter Joanne L. Fallert and her husband Steve of Bloomfield, NJ and a son Allan R. Demarest and his wife Teresa of Cohoes, NY.  Also surviving is his sister Suzanne Yeager and her husband Bill of Harrisburg, PA;  six grandchildren:  Chris Johnson, Erin and Ryan Fallert, and Jordan, Brady and Joshua Demarest.  He was predeceased by his brother, David Demarest

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY.  Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at  Warwick United Methodist Church, 135 Forester Ave., Warwick, NY, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY.
