James M. Everett

(formerly of Crawfordville, Florida) died on September 3, 2006 at his home.  He was 81 years old. 

 

Born on June 12, 1925 in Blairsville, PA, he was the son of James A. and Martha A. Cronin Everett.

 

He was married to Madeleine (White) Everett for almost 60 years.

 

Mr. Everett served with the US Navy – Coast Guard during World War II with the Match Box Fleet, USCG Rescue Flotilla, serving in Normandy.  He was a member of the USCG Combat Veterans.

 

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Boy Scout leader for many years in Queens with Troop 295 and later in Florida;  he was a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Crawfordville, FL where he served as a choir member, bookkeeper and a eucharistic minister.  He was a Postal Worker with the US Postal Service in New York City, where he was a Hearings Officer and a Railway Mail Clerk.  He was formerly an accounting clerk with R. J. Reynolds in New York City.

 

He is survived by his wife, Madeleine, of Warwick; his children:  Kathleen Garritano and her husband Carmine of Warwick, James A. Everett of Astoria, Queens, Nancy Waldie and her husband Charles of New Rochelle, and Thomas W. Everett and his wife Laura of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; his grandchildren:  Jeanine Wadeson and her husband Craig, Andrea Freeze and her husband Tracy, Kristina Garritano, Brian Carol and his wife Virginia, and Michael Everett; great-grandchildren: Madeleine, Annabelle and Erin. Also survived by a sister, Naomi Maclachlan.  A brother, Thomas Everett, is predeceased. 

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Thursday at St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick.  Interment will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
