Francis J. Messina

of Warwick (formerly of Yonkers, NY), died on July 31, 2007 at home.  He was 87 years old.

 

Born on September 23, 1919 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Gaetana Milici Messina.

 

He was the husband of Louise Barretti-Messina (nee Silvestri).

 

Mr. Messina served with the US Army during World War II from 1943-45.  He was the owner of G. Messina Dress Corporation, Bronx, New York.

 

He is survived by his wife Louise Messina of Warwick; his two children:  Chuck Messina of Warwick and Helen Messina of Forest Hills; three grandchildren:  Kimberly Swain, Meredith Mercadonte and Lauren Messina and five great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by two sons: Francis Messina, Jr. and John A. Messina.

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 1st, from 2-4 & 7-8:30 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick with a funeral service being held at 8:30 pm on Wednesday evening.  Private cremation
