Betty-Jane Smith

of Warwick, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2009 at home.  She was 88 years old.

 

Born on May 29, 1920 in Middletown, NY, she was the daughter of the late William Norris and Ellen Auty Norris.

 

She was the wife of the late Wilbur L. Smith for 61 years,  and was also predeceased by her son, Robert N. Smith.

 

“Betty loved her family, her community and her many friends.”

 

She was a member of the Warwick Reformed Church and its Women’s Guild and was a volunteer with the Warwick Valley Ecumenical Food Pantry.

 

She is survived by her son, Wilbur L. Smith, MD and his wife Rebecca of Huntington Woods, MI and their children: Jason and his wife Kelly, Dan, JoAnna Weber and her husband Gerard, Noah, Ethan and his wife Janet, and Jacob.  She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Smith of Warwick and her children: Katherine Kirkpatrick and her husband Gregory, Matthew and his wife Dawn and Stephen and his wife Emily; and her great-grandchildren:  Darius, Derek, Quentin, Dorian, Logan, Paris, Devin, Peter, Ian and Sasha. 

 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 1st, from 3:00-6:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Warwick Reformed Church.  Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry, 135 Forester Ave., Warwick, NY 10990 or the Warwick Reformed Church Backpack Program, 16 Maple Ave., Warwick, NY 10990.
