of Florida, New York, passed away on February 11, 2010 at Horton Hospital, Middletown. She was 66 years old.
Born on November 8, 1943 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Horan) Mayer.
Before retiring, she was a Makeup Manager with Scientific American in New York City. She was the secretary of the Warwick Community Girl Scouts and a volunteer with the Warwick Valley Middle School Drama Club.
A family statement reads: Our Mom’s presence in our daily lives will leave an unfillable void. She was a “hands-on” grandmother, who thrived in sharing in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She will be missed every day.”
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rice and her husband Stephen of Warwick; a son, Steven Cermak and his wife Jennifer of Florida, NY; four grandchildren: Sean, Sabrina, Nicholas and Stephanie; a sister, Judith Dauenhauer and her husband Frank of Rochester, NY; a sister-in-law, Cornelia Hirner of Hauppauge, LI; long-time companion, Thomas Keenan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Amanda; her parents; her brother, Richard Mayer and his wife, Carol Anderson; and her former husband, Edward Cermak.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 13, 2010, from 12:00-2:00pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Private cremation.
