of Highland Lake, NY, a former resident of Warwick, died January 14, 2008 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. He was 81.
The son of the late Joseph and Caroline Meyer Schweizer, he was born June 6, 1926 in Rosendale, NY.
He was a Police Officer with the Village of Warwick Police Department. He worked with Austin Decker & Sons as a Plumber and worked for the Town of Warwick Water Department.
He was a member of the Goodwill Hook & Ladder Company for many years and a member of the American Legion Post #214. He served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by his companion of 30 years, Joyce Ashley of Highland Lake, NY; five daughters: Helen Corkum and husband Frank of Warwick, Marie Lindemann of Schenectady, Carol Bogart and husband Bill of Warwick, Joann Lemin of Schenectady, Donna Specht and husband Randy of Warwick; one son, Thomas Schweizer and wife Cathy of Warwick; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Feeney Schweizer, and his two sons-in-law, Raymond Lemin and Robert Lindemann.
Memorial visitation will be on Friday, June 6th, from 12:00-2:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, followed by interment of cremains in Warwick Cemetery, with military honors.
