of Warwick, passed away on December 19, 2008 surrounded by her family at home. She was 41 years old.
Born on September 3, 1967 in Englewood, NJ, she was the daughter of Elaine Sprague Brodhead and the late Robert Brodhead.
She graduated from Warwick Valley High School in 1985 and received a B.S. from State University of New York at New Paltz.
On November 18, 1995, Nancy married the love of her life, Jeffrey Burghardt and was blessed with two sons. Her greatest accomplishments in life (according to her) were being a wife and mother. It was her life’s work and all she ever wanted.
She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Parish in Warwick and especially loved being involved with her Teams of Our Lady group, Mom to Mom, Disciples of Mission, and Women of Grace.
Nancy battled breast cancer for six years. She lived those years with purpose, strength, determination, courage and love. Everyone who knew and loved Nancy became a better person because of her and her will to survive. Her candle burned brightly and we need the many people whose lives she touched to keep it burning.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her sons, Robert and Jacob; her mother, Elaine Brodhead; her sisters: Laurie Dino and Margaret Serapin; her brothers: Lawrence Brodhead and James Brodhead; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jane Held.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 21st, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday at St. Stephens RC Church. Private cremation.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s School or the Brian Ahearn Children’s Foundation.
