
Mary E. Verbert, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on September 17, 2013 at Schervier Pavilion. She was 83 years old.
Born on February 7, 1930 in Goshen, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Carr) O’Malley.
She was married to the late Charles (Bussie) Verbert who preceded her in death in1997.
Mary was a Senior Stenographer with Mid Orange Correctional Facility in Warwick. She was a member of St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick, a member of the Catholic Daughters and formerly served as President, and a member of the Florida and Pine Island Senior Citizens groups.
A family statement reads: “Mom knew how to enjoy life, enjoyed dancing and had a contagious laugh. She was a huge Yankee fan and avid gardener. Most of all, she was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank Dr. Fiore and all those who cared so lovingly for Mary."
She is survived by her two sons: Michael Verbert of Hackensack, and Thomas J. Verbert and his wife Susan of Florida, NY; her daughter: Mary Alice Cahill and her husband Edward of Sugar Loaf. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Sara, Allison, Kamryn Cahill, and Clare and Thomas Verbert
Visitation will be on Friday, September 20th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in St. Stephens Cemetery.
