Dr. Barbara A. Harger, 74, of Honolulu, Hawaii died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at St. Anthony's Community Hospital, Warwick, New York.
She was born in 1939, daughter of Arthur and Lillian Walker II.
She married Edward Harger in June 1973, he died in April 1995.
She retired from the University of Hawaii as a Professor in July 2002. Two of her greatest joys was her work with the Hawaii Stitchery and Fibre Arts Guild (previous Board President) and working on the Hawaiian Quilt Research Project (previous Board President). She also enjoyed traveling with her friends, going to plays at the theater, watching volleyball/football, going on cruises and quilting conventions.
She is survived by a brother, Arthur Walker III and his wife Marybeth; nephew Arthur Walker IV and his wife Heather Walker with 3 children; nephew Benjamin Walker and his wife Jessica with 3 children; niece Kimberly Proulx and her husband Dave with 4 children; niece Margaret Binzley and her husband Richard with 2 children; niece Denise Goddin and her husband John with 2 children. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Lillian Walker II; her sister and her spouse Cynthia and Walt Chovanec; and numerous aunts and uncles.
