Frank E.  Smith of Toms River, NJ (formerly of Saddle Brook, NJ) passed away on May 10, 2011. He was 84 years old.

Born on February 13, 1927 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Smith.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the SS Bennington, was a member of the American Legion Post 415, Saddle Brook, NJ and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3484. He was a retired Bus Driver with Arrow Bus Company.

He is survived by his six children: Dory Kowal and her husband Glenn of Hewitt, NJ, Donna Smith of Los Angeles, CA, Eric Stegmann of North Carolina, Laura Thompson of North Carolina, Susan Hartwig of Florida, and Frank Smith of Nevada; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a sister, Gladys House; a cousin, Edward Holmes.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 13th, from 7:00-9:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc., PO Box 575, Manchester, MD 21101 in honor of Frank Smith.
