Timothy A. Dempsey, of Warwick, NY, passed away on March 17, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.  He was 82 years old. 

The son of Timothy and Marcella (Downes) Dempsey, he was born February 15, 1934 in New York City, NY.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Kattenhorn); his daughter, Patricia Hansen of Summerville, SC; his grandchildren, Karen Durling, Timothy Hansen, Julie Hansen, Alyssa Karpacz, Amanda Karpacz, and his great-grandson, Taylor VanDerMerwe.  He was predeceased by his daughters, Mary C. Thompson and Karen Karpacz, and his sister Marcella Larkin. 

Mr. Dempsey was a kind, loving, and family man who will be missed by all who knew him.

As an active member of the community, Mr. Dempsey was always helping others.  He was President and Chairman of the Board of the Warwick Savings Bank, Chairman of the Development Council of St. Anthony’s Hospital, responsible for the development of Schervier Pavilion and Mt. Alverno Senior Health Care campus.  Among his numerous accomplishments, he was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2000.  He was a member of the Warwick Lion’s Club District 20.0 and became President and District Governor 1986-1987.  Always willing to be of service, Mr. Dempsey was the Past President of the Warwick Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Orange County Banker’s Association, and past member of Mt. Saint Mary’s College Board of Trustees.  An active parishioner of St. Stephen RC Church, Mr. Dempsey was Chairman of the Transitional Committee for the new church construction. 

An avid golfer, Mr. Dempsey was a member of the Warwick Valley Country Club.  He was a lifelong NY Yankees and NY Jets fan.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 20, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Stephen RC Church, followed by interment in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Warwick, NY.
