Hedwig Stern, known by most as Hedy, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at 5 AM on October 28, 2010, at St Anthony's Hospital in Warwick.  She was born in Sulzberg, Germany on May 25th, 1914.  She escaped the Holocaust via Holland to then Palestine.  There she met her late husband Hans and raised two children there, seeing the formation of the state of Israel.  The family emigrated to New York in 1956.  She made her career as a designer with Sears and Roebuck, mastering the art of sewing and crafting clothing.  In 1995, she and Hans settled in Warwick, NY to be nearer to her daughter Hannah, and grandchild Danny.  Her personality functioned on kindness and love, and all who came in contact with her experienced the boundless grace with which she forged through life, optimistic until the very end.  She is survived by her son Michael and daughter Hannah, her grandchildren, Lisa, Mark, and Danny, ad her great grandchildren, Joey, Luke, Jake, and Logan.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Beth El Cemetery, Township of Washington, Bergen County, NJ.
