Salvatore T. Alonge

of Greenwood Lake (formerly of Brooklyn and NYC), died on November 30, 2007 at Schervier Pavilion.  He was 89 years old.

 

Born on July 9, 1918 in New York City, he was the son of the late William and Genoffa (Sapienza) Alonge.

 

He was married to the late Marie L. Vernola Alonge (2001).

 

Mr. Alonge served with the US Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Greenwood Lake.  He was a self-employed door-to-door salesman in New York City and Brooklyn.  He was a member of Holy Rosary RC Church in Greenwood Lake,  was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the Greenwood Lake Senior Center.

 

A family statement read:  “He was known for his love of life.”

 

He is survived by his daughter, Lucia Bonnier and her husband Douglas, of Warwick; two grandchildren:  Jesse and Ryan, of Warwick; two sisters:  Vivian Montante  and Angela San Giorgia, both of Brooklyn; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Alonge.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, December 3rd, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at Holy Rosary RC Church, Greenwood Lake.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
