Barbara Ann Green
03/21/2025

On March 21, 2025, Barbara Ann Bailey Green of Warwick, NY fell asleep in death. She had reached the age of 91 just three days before.

Barbara always held dear her brother Robert G. Bailey, older by almost 18 months. While Barbara’s mother worked to support the two children, she spent much time in the care of her mother’s parents August and Georgina Weber along with beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins in various places in NJ, PA, and NY.

In September 1953, Barbara wed Joseph S. Green, whom she always thought of as her “handsome sailor.” At the time of his death in August 2021, they were married 67 years and raised three children: Robert (July 1954), Nancy (March 1957), and Debra (December 1960). Once married, Barbara lived in Chincoteague, VA, Avenel, NJ, and then Neptune, NJ until 2004 when she and Joe left for Rocky Mount, NC; there they made some very dear friends. After about 12 years they moved near family in Georgetown, TX. In 2024, in support of a volunteer project, Barbara willingly moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Warwick, NY, dwelling in the apartment side of their home.

Many of Barbara’s relatives were Jehovah’s Witnesses. A Bible discourse that her uncle gave when she was in fourth/fifth grade made her say, “It’s so true!” It led to her studying the Bible and symbolizing her dedication to Jehovah God on March 2, 1963. Barbara’s faith was a dominant, joyful force in her life. She felt humbled to have been used by God to study the Bible with at least 22 people to the point of their dedication. She remained eager to share her knowledge with all whom she could right to the end.

Barbara was a wonderful, loving mother and very capable wife who strove to keep a good life for her family. People were drawn to her for the good, kind, patient, peace-loving person she was, for her warmth and ready hospitality that are still being remarked upon. Happy times spent laughing at shared jokes, reading, traveling, maintaining special friendships, hosting jam sessions at home, very hospitably opening the home to any visitor including her children’s many friends and making them feel very comfortable being there, preparing for studies of the Bible, etc., were what filled her days.

Surviving Barbara are her many loved ones: her brother Robert Bailey, and her children Robert Green (Majorie Daley; WY), Nancy Rogers (Randy; NY), and Debra Green Iacouzze (Bruce Iacouzze) of NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren: of Robert is Justin Green (Andrea) of AL, Madora Daley-Green of WY, William Daley-Green (Stephanie) WA;  of Nancy is Collin Rogers (Joyce; TX);  of Debra is Kara Blindert (Robert Raines) of TX, along with her stepdaughters Reneé Iacouzze and Gina Iacouzze both of NJ. Barbara also had one great-grandson, Jack Adams of AL. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Pre-deceasing her were Barbara’s parents Merton Gerard Bailey and Ann Barbara Weber Woolley, husband Joseph S. Green, half-brother James Woolley, and many special and dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In March 2024 Barbara was diagnosed with the congestive heart failure and aortic stenosis which took her life just over one year later.
