Marie Rose Conant, of Warwick, NY, 81, died peacefully at her home on March 13, 2025, after a brief but intense battle against brain cancer.

Marie was born February 26, 1944, to Helen and Eduard Throm. She married James Conant who survives her, on September 11,1976. Their 48 years of marriage were filled with fun and adventure. Spring vacations were spent SCUBA diving in the Caribbean. Marie and Jim had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe.

Marie devoted much of her life to working with children. She was a beloved teacher of primary-aged children in the Pearl River School District for 35 years. Marie was an integral part in the lives of her many nieces and nephews. As she loved them, they loved “Aunt Marie” right back.

Marie had an unlimited thirst for knowledge. She earned the rank of Black Sash in the Art of Tai Chi in June 2006. She continued as a Tai Chi instructor right up until the time of her illness. Aside from being an avid reader, Marie used her creative abilities working with stained glass, jewelry, painting, and photography. Her greatest passion can be seen in the many beautiful gardens she created on her property over 47 years. Her gardens are a reflection of her kindness to all living things: people, plants and animals.

In addition to her husband Jim, Marie is survived by her sister, Paula Nissen and brothers Edward, Richard, and Carl Throm. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Layton, and brothers-in-law: Joe, Roger, Ray, and George Conant.
