Anthony Dia, of Warwick (formerly of the Bronx, NY), passed away on March 10, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 90 years old.
Born on August 20, 1923 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Stefano and Ignazia (Tobia) Dia.
He was married to Tessie (Carvellas) Dia and was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence (Hoehne) Dia.
Anthony served with the US Navy during World War II, and he was a member of American Legion Post #214, Warwick. He was retired as a Technical Engineer with NBC, New York, NY, and he was a Ham Radio Operator. Anthony enjoyed spending time at Lake Adventure, Lords Valley, PA
He is survived by his wife, Tessie Dia, of Warwick; his daughters: Janet Smith and her husband John J. of Palm Coast, FL, and Lorraine Buckley and her husband Thomas of Warwick; two step-sons: James Challes and his wife Cora of Nutley, NJ, and Matthew Challes and his wife Annie of Newburgh, NY; seven grandchildren: Colleen, Daniel, Paul, Nicole, Katie, Alexandria and Matthew; five great-grandchildren: a sister, Fil Vitelli of Brentwood, LI. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bridget Dia.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 14th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
