Joseph G. Ross III

Joseph G. Ross III a 23-year resident of Warwick, formerly of Hanover, MD, Tampa, FL and New York, NY died on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.  He was 77 years old.

 

Son of the late Joseph G. Ross, Jr. and Rose Applegate, he was born on March 9, 1932 in New York, NY.

 

He was a retired 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (L.U. #24). He was a licensed Master Electrician in the states of MD, NJ and CT. He was a licensed Commercial Second Class Radiotelegraph Operator with Ship Radar Endorsement, a licensed General Class Commercial Radiotelephone Operator with Ship Radar Endorsement, and a licensed Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator. He was a documented U.S. Merchant Mariner as an Ordinary Seaman, Oiler, Fireman/Watertender, Pumpman and Electrician. He was ASE certified in Engine Repair and Electrical/Electronic Systems. He graduated from Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, IL as an Electrical Technician and Radio-Television Technician. He was a Certified Welder as well as an accomplished carpenter, plumber, mason, electronic repairman and auto mechanic.

 

Survivors include his wife Rebecca of Warwick; four sons, Joe Richard Ross of Odessa, FL, Joseph G. Ross IV of Hanover, MD, Ronny Ross of Millersville, MD, Robert Ross of Crownsville, MD; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Roslyn Taveroni, of Cresskill..

 

He was preceded in death by his former wife Frances Ross, and a son Dennis Ross.

 

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 1:00-4:0 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.  Private cremation.
