William H. Bryant, a lifelong resident of Warwick, NY, passed away on February 16th 2013 at St. Anthony Hospital Warwick, NY. He was 87 years old.
Born on October 28, 1925 in Warwick, he was the son of the late Harold and Florence Hocking Bryant.
He was married to Norma (Scheuermann) Bryant.
A World War II veteran of the Navy Seabees serving in the Pacific, he was a charter member and past commander of VFW Post #4662.
Bill retired from International Paper Company as a Maintenance Mechanic, he was a 63 year member of Excelsior Hose Company No. 1, past Chief of the Warwick Fire Department, member of District #6 Past Chiefs, Fire Chiefs Association of Orange County, past Commissioner of Warwick Fire District, member of L & H Railway Veterans Association. He was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Warwick. Bill enjoyed doing woodworking.
A family statement read: “Bill was a man of few words but those who knew him listened closely to them. He was proud of his family, his country, and his community and most of all he was a caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.”
Survivors include his wife, Norma of Warwick; a son, William K. Bryant of Warwick; his daughters: Donna Lynn Gove of Warwick and Katherine Florence Forsyth of Warwick; three grandchildren: Tami, Jennifer and Robert; one step-grandchild Jessica; and two great-grandchildern; Kaylie and Emily as well as an expected third great-grandchild Anna Beth; sister: Ann White of Warwick. He was predeceased by his sister Grace Miller
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, with military honors.
