
, of Warwick (formerly of Ridgefield, CT), passed away on April 8, 2010 at home. She was 65 years old.
Born on October 3, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Bridget (Smyth) Kearns.
Phyllis was a Receptionist for 16 years with GE Capital, Danbury, CT.
A family statement reads: “Born in Athlone, Ireland, Phyllis emigrated to the United States in 1963. Although she lived in the United States most of her life, Ireland was always ‘home’. Phyllis loved her family, her receptionist position at GE Capital, and the arts. An avid poet and writer, Phyllis had an infectious spirit that made everyone who knew her feel special and important. She touched the lives of all who met her and is gone from us too soon.”
She is survived by her daughters: Christine Bodeker and her husband Carl, of Warwick and Victoria Barone and her husband Michael of White Mills, PA; a son, Philip Nikbakht of Scranton, PA; her grandchildren: Emma, Abigail, Eric, and Alex Bodeker, and Jacqueline and Steven Barone, and Alicia Nikbakht; two sisters: Kathleen Kearns of Macungie, PA and Maureen Monaghan of Banger, Ireland; two brothers: John Kearns of Fermanagh, Ireland and Eugene Kearns of Enniskillen, Ireland; her former husband, Fred Nikbakht of Franklin Square, NY . She was predeceased by a sister, Shelagh Issaac.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 10th, from 6:00-8:00 pm and Sunday, April 11th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday at St. Stephens RC Church. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY.
