J. Richard “Dick” Gove, of Pelahatchie, MS, formerly of Warwick, NY, passed away on July 17, 2011 in Jackson, MS. He was 86 years old.
Born on April 8, 1925 in Warwick, he was the son of the late Harry Brunner Gove and Mary Emma Askham.
Dick was best know as the proprietor of Dick's TV in Warwick from the late 50's to early 70's. He worked for the NYS Training School for boys from 1955-1975, and served as union president for Civil Service Employees of America.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Patterson Gove of Brandon, MS; five sons: Eugene Gove of the Philippines, Edward Gove of Portland, OR, Thomas Gove and his wife Jackie of Warwick, Harry Gove and his wife Linda of Pinellas Park, FL, Marvin Gove of Statesville, NC; two daughters: Ruth McGovern and her partner Thomas Rudy and Dixie Thompson and her fiancé Norman Bezares, both of Warwick; a step-son, Jim Reed of Granite City, IL; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Bounds Gove, a son, Kenneth Gove, and granddaughters, Kelly Gove and Sarah McGovern.
Memorial visitation will be on Saturday, July 30th, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm.
