Jane Agnes (Longwell) Space, a longtime resident of Warwick, NY, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home with her loving family by her side on December 14, 2021 after a four year battle with cancer. She was 89 years old.
Born in Middletown, NY on July 17, 1932, she was the daughter of Dr. John B. and Agnes (nee Ficke) Longwell.
Jane worked as an Avon Lady, going door-to-door in those days selling cosmetics. She was a past member of the Warwick Post 214 American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was a former fundraiser for the American Heart Association. As a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church, she volunteered many hours for the St. Stephen-St. Edward School. She was an active member of the Seward Seniors. She enjoyed meeting new people and talking with them. Much of the reason she loved Avon and later her senior trips, was because of the people she met through them.
Jane is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth; daughters Maureen J. Space of Warwick and Marilyn A. Space of Middletown; two grandchildren, Douglas Space of Warwick and Agnes Smith and her husband Chris of Liberty and five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Joey, Lucas, Gianna and Harper.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 17th at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick. Interment will follow the Mass in Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.
