Wayne H. Winship, of Huguenot, NY, (formerly of Sugar Loaf), passed away on November 6, 2011. He was 42 years old.
Born on April 20, 1969 in Warwick, NY, he was the son of Charles and Gertrude (Walling) Winship.
Ho worked with his brothers at Warwick Valley Plumbing & Heating and was also an employee of Lowes in Chester. He was a member of St. Columba RC Church, Chester,
Besides being an avid NY Jets fan, Wayne had a great love for the outdoors, enjoying camping, fishing and hunting. Wayne was an animal lover having adopted several dogs and cats over the years. His compassion was not only towards animals, but also directed at his loved ones and acquaintances as he never failed to step up to help those who needed him. Anyone who knew Wayne would definitely remember him for his kindness and generosity. His hardworking nature and never complaining attitude and gentle soul earned him the respect of his family and co-workers. Wayne will be loved and forever missed.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Winship of Sugar Loaf; his fiancé, Karen Ghignon of Huguenot, and her two sons, Jason and Justin Heichel and three grandchildren, Audrey, Abbigail and Alex (known to them as “Poppy No-Hair”) ; his brother, Gary Winship of Sugar Loaf, sister Gail Valetta and her husband Joe of Hamburg, NY, sister Christine Cypher and her husband Bill of Washingtonville, brother Kevin Winship and his wife Cheryl of Goshen, and sister Dana Winship and her fiancé Wayne Click of Wurtsboro; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 9th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at St. Columba RC Church, 27 High Street, Chester, NY. Private cremation.
