Francis S. Putnam

Francis S. Putnam, of Warwick, passed away on January 4, 2017 at St. Anthony Community Hospital.  He was 89 years old. 

Born on July 15, 1927 in Greenwood Lake, NY, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Maud (Storms) Putnam. 

He was married to Joan (Sinsabaugh) Putnam, and they celebrated their 65th anniversary in April. 

Frank served with the US Navy from 1946-1948.  

Frank retired as Head Carpenter with E.I. DuPont in Pompton Lakes, NJ and then he worked as a Locksmith with the Department of Corrections at Mid-Orange Correctional Facility in Warwick, NY.  He also owned Foley Lock & Key Service in Warwick.   He was a 58 year member of and past Commander of American Legion Post 214 in Warwick, a member of the Sons of the Revolution, and a member of Warwick Fire Department, Raymond Hose Company for 61 years.  A member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Putnam of Warwick; his children:  Karen Lavinski and her husband Teofil of Surfside Beach, SC, Barry Putnam and his wife Cathy of Lansing, NY, and Beth Eurich and her husband Herman of Warwick, NY.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Lynn Sytsema and her husband Henry.  He is also survived by his grandchildren:  Donna, Kara, Sarah, Matthew, Rebecca, Deborah, Kyle, Kevin, Erin, Mary Beth and Katie; and his great-grandchildren:  Elizabeth, Landon, Collin, Eden Lynn, Cade, Audrey Lynn and Raelynn.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, with a Fire Dept. service at 7:30 pm.  Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday at Christ Church, 50 South Street, Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,  501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
