As pastor, he will always be remembered for his leadership in constructing the new St. Stephen’s Church that opened in 1992. He called it – in the words of Mother Teresa – “Something Beautiful for God”. He was named Honorary Prelate by Pope John Paul II in 1986 and was named Pastor Emeritus of St. Stephen’s in 1997. He continued his ministry at the parish until poor health required him to move in July of 2010 to Schervier Pavilion, Warwick. He was most proud of having served as Chaplain of the Longfordmen’s Association from 1947 until his death and received their Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
He is survived by sisters-in-laws Sally (Doran) Corrigan and Mary (Carroll) Corrigan, nine nephews, thirteen nieces, twenty-two great-nephews, fifteen great-nieces, and four great-great-nieces.
