
James J. Baker, of Warwick, passed away on January 6, 2014 at home. He was 76 years old.
Born on September 24, 1937 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond and Agatha (Carroll) Baker.
He was married to Priscilla (O’Dell) Baker.
A Navy veteran, he served from 1955-1964. He was a Food Services Manager with the Salvation Army in Suffern.
He is survived by his wife Priscilla, of Warwick; his children: Patricia Leosche and her husband Richard of Blooming Grove, Ginnie McDevitt and her husband Jack of Warwick, Edward Smith and his wife Laurie of Highland Mills, and James P. Baker and wife Cheryl of Cornwall; five grandchildren: Christine, Michele, Ricky, Colleen and Sydney; and five great-grandchildren: R. J., Emily, Matthew, Ryan and Ashlynn; a brother, Thomas Baker and wife Marion of Howell, NJ. He also leaves behind his two cats, Max and Squeak.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 9th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen with military honors.
