Victoria Peterson Cory

of Warwick passed away on January 6, 2011 at Schervier Pavilion,  She was 93 years old.  She formerly lived in Battle Mountain, Nevada, Bergenfield, NJ, Oradell,NJ and Ramsey, NJ.

 

The daughter of the late Charles O. and Maria Bock Peterson, she was born on September 20, 1917 in Bronx, NY.  She was the widow of Joseph W. Cory, who died in 1995.

 

Mrs. Cory was a Docent for the National Historical Museum in Milford, PA, Chairman of the Children’s Museum in Ramsey, NJ, a member of the Ramsey & Sparta Sweet Adelines, as well as the Sweet Adelines in Kooskia, ID, and a member of the Book & Needle Club in Oradell, NJ.  She was a world-wide traveler, wrote family memoirs and authored a mystery novel.

 

She is survived by three sons:  Wade Cory of Haskell, NJ, Russell Cory of Seattle, WA, and Reid Cory of Astoria, OR; one daughter, Sandra Cory Doyle of Wantage, NJ;

her grandchildren:  Christine Odell, Laura D’Ercole, Eric Cory, Jon Cory, Richard Cory, Russell Cory, Jr., Jamie Meltzer; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, from 7:00-8:30 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  The funeral service will be held at 8:30pm at the funeral home.  Private cremation with interment of cremains in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY at a later date.
