Gerard W. Jankowski

of Warwick, passed away on August 23, 2009 at Schervier Pavilion.  He was 75 years old.

 

Born on May 1, 1934 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Sabina (Kennedy) Jankowski.

 

He was married to Mary R. Healey Jankowski.

 

A Marine veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Jankowski was a member of the American Legion Post 214, Warwick.  He retired in 1998 as a Maintenance Supervisor with International Paper Company, Tuxedo.  He was a member of St. Stephen’s RC Church, where he served as an usher.

 

A family statement reads:  “Gerry Jank will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to others and for spending time and enjoying his family and wonderful grandchildren.”

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Warwick;  his daughters:  Catherine Roccabruna and her husband Steven of New Hampton, and Julieann Fash and her husband Earl of Briarcliff Manor;  his sons:  Scott Jankowski  of Warwick, and Thomas M. Jankowski and his wife Joanna of Virginia;  seven grandchildren:  Travys, Camron, Isabella, Samuel, Sophia, Olivia and Justin;  a brother, John F. Jankowski and his wife Karen of Cedar Rapids, IA; a sister, Sheila Call of Middletown.  He was predeceased by a sister, Louise Lust.

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 27th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Stephen’s RC Church.  Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to American Legion Post #214, Forester Ave., Warwick, NY 10990.
