Jose R. Melendez, Of Warwick (formerly of Bronx, NY), passed away on March 28, 2017 at Valley View, Goshen. He was 80 years old.
Born on February 23, 1937 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Encarnacion and Juana (Lamboy) Melendez.
He was married to Sara (Jimenez) Melendez.
Before retiring, Jose worked in management with International Super Markets in Manhattan.
A family statement reads: “He was a hard worker and loved dearly by his family”.
He is survived by his daughter, Sara Santiago of Warwick; his son, Benjamin Melendez of Los Angeles, CA; his grandchildren: Rafael Santiago, Matthew Santiago and Jennylynn Mendoza; and his great-granddaughter, Jaela Artache.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 31st, from 2-4 & 6-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 1st, at St. Stephen RC Church, Warwick. Private cremation.
