of Warwick, passed away on December 18, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern. She was 79 years old.
Born on July 22, 1930 in CO Donegal, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget (Timoney) Doherty.
Sr, Moira worked for several years as a Beautician in San Francisco, CA and Philadelphia, PA before joining the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in Warwick, NY in 1965. She served for five years at Frances Schervier in the Bronx as a beautician. In addition, Sr. Moira served the poor in Mary House, Catholic Worker, NYC, St. Pius Center for Women, Jamaica, Queens and assisted elderly persons in their homes in Brooklyn, NY.
She retired to Mount Alverno Assisted Living in 2006.
She is survived by her sisters: Bridie McKendrick of England, Susan Nickolson of England, and Peggy McGlyhn of Ireland; a brother, James Doherty of Ireland; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Maybury.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 4:00-6:30 pm at Mount Alverno Chapel. Wake service will be held at 6:30 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Mount Alverno Chapel, followed by interment in the Convent Cemetery, 20 Grand St., Warwick.
