Douglas K. Havell of Warwick, NY (formerly of Hewitt, NJ) passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. He was 73.
Douglas was born in Morristown, NJ on June 2, 1946 to Robert E. and Muriel B (nee Wiss) Havell.
Douglas was the owner of the former Ramsey Chrysler Plymouth in Mahwah, NJ as later worked with his wife Mary at Mary Havell Motors in Newfoundland, NJ and was considered a master mechanic. He was a member of the American Power Boat Association and was a master carpenter as well as a builder and restorer of boats. A family statement reads “His true love was Mary Havell."
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary E. (nee Fitz Simmons) Havell of Warwick; three sons, Douglas Havell Jr. and his wife Susan, Jay Havell and Joey Havell and his wife, Kimberly Joy. Also surviving are his sister, Marsha Frances of New Hampshire; brother, Robert Havell of Long Boat Key, FL; and five grandchildren: Isabella, Grant, Ellie, Madison, and Van Havell. He was predeceased by his sister, Pam Havell.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 17th, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery.
