of Reston, Va., formerly of Warwick, NY, passed away May 16, 2007 at the age of 78.
Jack was born August 11, 1928, in Medford Mass, to John F and Helen May Sullivan.
Mr. Sullivan was a US Army Veteran stationed in Germany during the early 50s. He settled in Greenwood Lake and Warwick, NY and owned and operated Sullivan's Lodge, a summer resort and marina for several decades. He went on to found Sullivan Flotation Systems Inc., presently one of the largest manufacturers of floating docks and marina systems in the US. Mr. Sullivan also holds a US patent on flotation devices used in the industry.
Jack was a tireless entrepreneur. He co-founded the East Arm Rowing Club located in Greenwood Lake and was involved in numerous ventures in New York and Virginia.
Jack's exuberant and generous spirit, and positive attitude defined him throughout his life. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and relished the '04 World Series victory. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife of 51 years, Martha Moore Sullivan and a loving and involved father to his six children: John M. Sullivan of Monsey NY; Steven S. Sullivan and daughter-in-law Barbara Sullivan of Warwick, NY; Robert M. Sullivan and daughter-in-law Usha Pillalmarri of Warwick, NY; Lisa Sullivan Franzen and son-in-law Jeff Franzen of Mclean, Va; Christine Sullivan of New York City; P.J. Sullivan of Brooklyn, NY and six grandchildren: Christopher Sullivan, Samantha Sullivan, Jack Franzen, Alex Franzen, William Franzen and Simone Sullivan; a brother, Leonard Sullivan of Billerica MA, and a sister, Virginia Collins, of Lyman NH.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on May 21st at St. Stephen RC Church , 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY 10990.
