formerly of Jackson Heights, Queens, passed away on March 3, 2009 at Schervier Pavilion. She was 86 years old.
Born on May 21, 1922 in Italy, she came to the United States in 1949 and was a Seamstress with ILGWU Local 91-105, New York. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Queens.
A family statement reads: “ She was very devoted to her nieces and nephews and godmother to many. She was very talented with her hands and took great pride in her sewing, knitting, embroidery and crocheting.”
She is survived by her brother, Tonino Castracane and his wife Elena of Warwick; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Franz Castracane, a twin sister, Tina DiLello and a sister, Delia Marchitelli.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 8th, from 2:00-6:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday at St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn.
