
Albert A. Johnson, Jr., of Warwick (formerly of Sugar Loaf) entered into eternal rest on August 19, 2012.
Born on December 15, 1938 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Albert A. Johnson, Sr. and Josepha (Hanieck) Johnson.
He was married to Jean (Meyer) Johnson for 50 years.
A veteran of the US Army, he was the owner of the Sugar Loaf Deli for 24 years. He was an honorary member of the Sugar Loaf Engine-Company.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Johnson, of Warwick; his children: Albert A. Johnson III and his wife Caroline of Hilton Head Island, SC, Yvonne Capone and her husband Robert of Sugar Loaf, Valerie Penso and her husband Ed of Ghana, and Lorene Custard of Bangor, PA; seven grandchildren: Sarah, Jessica, Brandon, Samantha, Andrew, Alexa and Kathryn; a brother, Robert Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; a sister, Jeannine Speranza of North Bellmore, NY; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the loving and compassionate caregivers at St. Anthony Community Hospital, Schervier Pavilion and the Regional Kidney Center.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 21st, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
