John E. Hersca, Jr., of Warwick, passed away on November 24, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 69 years old.
Born on May 8, 1944 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late John (Jack) and Stella (Rogowski) Hersca
He was married to Christine (Kuraszkiewick) Hersca.
John served with the US Army from 1962-65 and was a Facilities Engineer with Lever Brothers, Edgewater, New Jersey. Following his retirement, he was the owner of HCR Associates, Inc., a home inspection company. He was employed at Enterprise in Warwick and was “the guy who picked you up” and was a floral delivery man for Mike Sweeton at the General’s Garden. An adventurer, he enjoyed traveling and visited all the National Parks, as well as all 50 states in the US. He enjoyed studying local history and had his pilot’s license, owning his own plane.
He is survived by his wife Christine Hersca of Warwick; his son, John (Jack) Hersca and his wife Donna of Shohola, PA; his daughter, Heather Rhoades and her husband Jeff of Port Jervis, NY; two grandchildren: Greg Rhoades and Jillian Rhoades; two sisters: Alexis Link of San Clemente, CA and Peggy Berryhill of Phoenix, AZ.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 29th, from 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 7:30 pm.
