Joseph McCaffrey, of Warwick and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on January 30, 2014 at St. Anthony Community Hospital. He was 84 years old.
Born on January 23, 1930 in Peekskill, NY the son of the late Joseph and Olive (nee Tatem) McCaffrey
A retired Floor Clerk on the American Stock Exchange in New York City for over 45 years, he was an Army Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951-1953 and was a former member of the American Legion in Brooklyn, NY. Joseph had a unique sense of humor that those who knew him could appreciate. He was also a gifted artist, both as a painter and woodworker and he also enjoyed collecting stamps.
He is survived by his son, Joseph W. McCaffrey of Long Island City, NY and his daughter, Rita Martell and her husband Joseph Nuara of Warwick; four grandchildren: Kyle and Sara McCaffrey and Fredrick and Julia Martell. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Maloney
Visitation will be on Saturday February 1st from 1:00-3:30 pm at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home 17 Oakland Ave. Warwick, NY and a funeral service will follow at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will take place privately.
