Born on August 27, 1931 in New York, NY, he was the son of John T. Mooney and Margaret Price.
He was married to Regina Gribbon Mooney.
An Army veteran, he was a Firefighter with the New York City Fire Department. He was the former president of the New York City Fire Department Anchor Club, a member of the Warwick Fire Department Excelsior Hose Company, a member of the Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight, and a member of St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Mooney; three daughters: Mary Cassidy and her husband Kevin of Bronx, NY, Nancy Mooney of Bellvale, NY, and Regina Breslin and her husband Tom of Riverdale; a brother, William Mooney of Daytona, FL; a sister, Josephine McLoughlin of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Thomas Sean, Seamus and Molly. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Mooney-Howard, two brothers, Michael (Tom) Mooney and Robert Mooney, and a sister, Muriel Philbin.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 3rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Sunday, February 4th, from 6-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Monday at St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery.
