Margaret Petlicka
06/03/2015

Margaret Petlicka, 89, of Warwick, moved on to her Heavenly reward to unite with her beloved family, mother, Anastasia, and father, Antoni Petlicki, brothers, Anthony, Peter, Joseph and sisters, Anna Jankiewicz, Mary Jankiewicz, and Rose Piotrowski.

Margaret was born on September 9, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY.

She was a Chief Social Worker with the NYS Family Division of Superior Court.

A family statement reads:  “Aunt Marge, as she was known to so many, lived her journey through life with grace, laughter, and a great love and compassion for all.  She was the first member of her family to go to college and became an inspiration to her many nieces and nephews who followed her example.  Her life was spent in serving others as a mentor and advocate for those in need.  Her early work with the Sisters of Charity inspired her to pursue her career in Social Work, where she became a major force in the New York State Family Court System.  Marge lived her early years in New York City caring for her widowed mother, and after her passing, Marge moved to Warwick where she was a daily communicant at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, a member of their choir,  and the Sodality Society.  Marge spent many summers in Prince Edward Island, where she was a popular member of their community.  Aunt Marge embraced her role as mentor, protector and guide for the younger members of her family, grounding them in common sense and encouraging each to faithfully accept their unique calling with grace and share.  It is with tears of joy that we celebrate our Aunt and friend and reluctantly release her to the completion of her journey and her Heaven’s embrace.”

She leaves to follow her loving example many nieces, nephews, many close friends, and her loving colleagues in the Sisters of Charity.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 7th, from 2-5 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
