Anthony M. Gioffre, Jr. of Greenwood Lake, NY, passed away on July 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, September 29, 1944, he was the son of Anthony and Vera (Mascolo) Gioffre. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Gudrun “Goody” (Lotito) Gioffre.
Anthony was a long-haul truck driver for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 707 and drove for ACME Trucking out of Brooklyn, NY.
A family statement reads, “He loved being a Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. He loved woodwork and the Yankees. There was not a problem he could not solve and a thing he could not fix.”
He is survived by his three children: Valerie Cohan of Shohola, PA; Anthony Gioffre and Kristie Gioffre of Greenwood Lake, NY; three grandchildren: Dino Gioffre, Samantha Cohan, and Arthur Cohan; and four great-grandchildren: Javian Christopher, Janessa Christopher, Layla Gioffre, and Ryleigh Cohan. His nieces and nephew Robert and Ann Marie Musmacher of Valley Stream, NY, and Theresa Mando of Coconut Creek, FL and Donna Puccia of Brooklyn, NY. He also had fifteen loving brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his siblings: Conchetta “Connie” Gioffre, Anunziata “Nancy” Hirsch, Louis Gioffre, and John Gioffre as well as his longtime companion Francis Pace.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 26, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27 at Holy Rosary Church, 41 Windermere Avenue, Greenwood Lake, NY, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery, 50 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.
