
of Warwick (formerly of Staten Island) passed away on January 9, 2011 at home with his family, after a hard fought five years of living with multiple myeloma. Roy is now at peace. He was 51 years old.
Born on November 9, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Leif Chelsen and the late Barbara Bakke Chelsen.
He was married to Trish (Patricia) Adinolfi Chelsen.
Roy was a New York City Fireman, a member of the N.Y.C. Retired Firefighters of Orange County, the Retired Members Association, Inc., Fire Department, City of New York, the Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater N.Y., the FDNY Viking Association, Staten Island, a volunteer for Sports for Health, and a member of Be the Hero for Hero Foundation.
Roy’s battle with cancer and the courage he displayed during his five year fight inspired everyone that he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Trish Chelsen, of Warwick; his father, Leif Chelsen, of Warwick; a son, Christopher Chelsen, of Warwick; two sisters: Kathryn Chelsen, of Alexandria, VA and Joan Chelsen, of Staten Island; a brother, Steven Chelsen, of Staten Island; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 13th, and Friday, January 14th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday at Warwick Valley High School, Warwick, NY followed by private cremation.
